I’m still looking at Germany (not sure about the cities, but Munich and a couple of cities in the North should do it). And I’m looking at Sicily. Why Sicily? Because Palermo!
Also, I already visited Rome, Turin and Milan. And Sicilians are an interesting type of Italians. They have Greek roots and eastern influences.
Of course. I’m waiting until August, to see if ‘Rona comes back.

We were planning to fly in to Munich in a month and go in to Austria to tool around for two weeks but we cancelled. I can’t imagine things will be open and even if they are, limited capacity or takeout doesn’t sound all that appealing when you are playing tourist.
I ended up
shifting
my trips to some more local outdoors ones. A couple kayaking ones on the snake and green, backpacking in the nearby mountains. That sort of thing.

Nope. Wife is high risk, and my employer has a lot of restrictions in place.
That said, the plan was originally to go to southern France and Italy. My wife’s best friend lives in Grenoble and had a baby a few months ago and we wanted to go visit, and then we were going to meet up with my sister in northern Italy for a few days.
If you go to Germany, I recommend Stuttgart. Budget a day each for the Porsche museum and Mercedes museum. My sister lives in Stuttgart and it’s great. Sadly I haven’t spent much time in the rest of Germany, so I can’t tell you about any other cities.
We went to Budapest in Hungary back in 2017 and loved it. Fantastic city, lots of history, interesting things to see, and relatively cheap. We rented an AirBnB that was a renovated apartment in an old soviet housing bloc, and it was gorgeous!

Yeah, my wife and I are. We’re planning on staying in our Province, but given the size, that gives you a lot of options.
Probably a trip to Victoria, our capital, and smaller one night stays downtown or something.

I’m going up to my friends cabin in the adirondacks later this month for an escape from society and rona. Looking forward to seeing some stars, drinking some beer, and hitting some beautiful backroads. Finally motivated me to get my front coilovers welded in.

We should be coming back today
from 2.5
w

in
Iceland and Norway
, so our plans got cancelled already. Remarkably, we got 100% refund on plane tickets, hotels/AirBnBs, and
car reservation
. IcelandAir just refunded us our final outlay
yesterday.
I’m freaking
amazed we got it all back
...
Luckily we got to go to Banff and Lake Lou
is
e
in February for
a long weekend getaway before the virus
began spreading
in earnest.
No travel plans as a replacement. I think we’ll just be staying in as TX commences
a precipitous
upward trajectory of COVID cases.

Hell we might not even be able to cross the border this summer.
And in WA, a few stubborn eastside locations have become hot zones (along with some other stubborn areas of the country), so those might be bad ideas. Looks like I’ll be lucky to get out to the coast or maybe Spokane.

All of my plans were cancelled. I may take a trip in September/October but I’m not sure yet. I was supposed to go to Wyoming, Maine and California. First time I think I ever had more than one trip/vacation planned.
Covid did bring me one good thing: My girlfriend, who is in the Navy and with whom I’d like to spend the rest of my life, was scheduled to make a permanent change of station to California at the end of the month. 12 hours before her belongings were picked up by the movers , she convinced the detailer to keep her in the DC area . Had this whole pandemic not been a factor there is no chance she would have been able to stay.

Hey now, I’m pretty sure I was charged the American rate at the Hockey Hall of Fame, and I definitely made up for it with the sales tax I was charged when drinking in Toronto as a 19 year old.

My aunt is coming to California for Car Week. It's cancelled mostly but we're going to Monterey anyways. I'll also do another DWA rally. I need to book Christmas airfare back to Massachusetts but also have my eyes on taking a Hawaii trip maybe though I'd rather do some more track days instead.

Well Im still hoping to head to Utah and do some lift served mountain biking and disc golf around labor day. Maybe life will be normal enough then to drive out there and hit some National parks and vegas along the way. Definitely trying to do a trip up to mammoth lakes for some high sierras in the summer since its my favorite place in the whole state that time of the year. And maybe a trip to SLO. But mostly will just continue staying local, maybe venture out as far as Santa Barbara (like an hour away).

Probably nothing. I’d like to visit friends, but I have no desire to be a plague bearer.
Though Sicily is sort of tempting, especially as I think they are going to be doing some things to subsidize tourists. I’d like to go here: http://www.visitsicily.info/en/valley-of-the-temples/

Some places are do ing better than others though. It makes no sense to talk about a second wave in the US where our first wave never got under control, but other countries have done better than us.
As for going away entirely, definitely not without a vaccine. If we do get one, and immunity is long lasting, and the mutation rate is slow, then we could make it a rare occurrence like Polio and Measles, and there would be hope of eradication (though given the comparatively low severity other things might be higher priority once case loads could be kept low).
On the other hand, we’ve never had a vaccine for any coronavirus, and it’s not clear that immunity lasts long at all, so worst case we do just have it persist, and that becomes a lot more complicated to deal with.

We are keeping travel to a ~200 mile drive radius with a long weekend in the mountains with the in-laws and another in Charleston in the near-ish future . It’s been touch and go with my grandparents health and we at least want to wave at them through the window since we haven’t seen them since January. Of course this all depends on how aggressive this thing is spreading at those times and locales . No plane rides planned for us this year though.

We have to get down to my in-laws sometime over the summer, then deliver my daughter to college at the end of the summer. My family is talking about braving the virus and going to Orlando for a few days. I’m not in favor of that one.

Agreed on all points.
We’ve also never had the demand for a vaccine for any coronavirus that currently exists.

I booked off October in the hopes that I'd still be able to go to Japan but that's looking less and less likely to happen. Even if they get things under control, it'll probably be a while before they lift the mandatory quarantines upon entry.

Going to visit my wife’s sister’s family in PA next week. What car should we take—Sensible: Volvo. Crazy but worth the shock value: SAAB. (1998 convertible bought recently).
Mind you we’ll have our 3 year old with and it involves driving through the middle of nowhere at night.

Sicily?
There’s a recent ‘documentary’ type of movie that’s currently streaming on Prime if you have it ...it’s not great, but well worth watching if you’re headed to the land of the Targa Florio.

On ly thing on my calendar I REALLY want to do is the 2 day teen driving school at Skip Barber Racing in August. I bought a package of two seats so my son and I could go do it together. He turns 16 this year and I’d real ly like him to have some pro instruction on emergency maneuvers and to be able to go out and whip a car around and practice emergency braking (all car stuff we talk about, but d on’t really get to do in daily life) . God I hope we get to go.

I was supposed to go on a road trip to U pper Michigan this year. I was going to drive my truck and pick up my sister in Chicago or Milwaukee along the way, and spend a week at my mom’s cabin. It was supposed to happen in two weeks. We all canceled back in April because of COVID. We’ve all decided to do it next year, but I’m bummed. I really could use a vacation right now.
